The Mosque of Salman al-Farsi is located in the Al-Mada'in area, in the village of Salman Pak, roughly 30 km south of central Baghdad, Iraq. It contains the tomb of Salman the Persian, a Companion of the Prophet Muhammad and one of the most prominent non-Arab members of the early Muslim community. The complex also holds the graves of Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman, Jabir ibn Abd Allah al-Ansari and Tahir, a son of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir. Its Moroccan-style design and ornamentation recall Ottoman or Abbasid architecture. Salman's dome is 8 m in diameter and 17 m high, and the two minarets each stand 23 m tall with a diameter of 2 m.

The present structure is dated to a late period. The domes over Abd Allah ibn Jabir, Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman and Ali al-Tahir, as well as the dome of the Imam al-Hasan al-Askari mosque within the complex, were built in 1997. The domes were later targeted by rocket fire from militant groups.
After Iraq established separate Sunni and Shia endowment offices, the mosque was taken out of the Sunni endowment and placed under Shia management.
