Mahmood Mosque stands at Forchstrasse 323 in the Weinegg area of Zürich's District 8 (Kreis 8). It is regarded as the first purpose-built mosque in Switzerland and was completed in 1963. The mosque is owned and run by the Ahmadiyya community. The building has a minaret, although the construction of new minarets in Switzerland has since been prohibited following a popular vote. Its name is rendered in German sources as "Mosque of the Praiseworthy".

The foundation stone was laid on 25 August 1962. It was a stone taken from the wall of the Mubarak Mosque in India, and it was set in place by Amatul Hafeez Begum, daughter of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya community.
The mosque was inaugurated on 22 June 1963 by Muhammad Zafarullah Khan, who was then president of the 17th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The mayor of Zürich, Dr. Emil Landolt, attended the ceremony. Mushtaq Ahmad Bajwa headed the community's mission in Switzerland from June 1962 to January 1975.
