The Al-Nilin Mosque, whose Arabic name means "Mosque of the two Niles", stands in Omdurman, Sudan, on the Omdurman bank of the Nile close to the confluence of the White and Blue Niles. Its form recalls a giant shell, and it is regarded as one of the country's notable works of religious architecture. The roof meets the ground directly, much like a shell. According to the sources, it was the first building in Sudan constructed with aluminium partitions and without lifting columns. Its position facing the meeting of the rivers is a defining feature of the site.
