The Şehzade Mosque is an Ottoman mosque standing on a hilltop in the Fatih district of Istanbul. It lies in the Kalenderhane neighbourhood on 15 Temmuz Şehitleri Avenue, opposite the Istanbul municipality building. Suleiman the Magnificent commissioned it in memory of his son, Prince Mehmed, who died young, and the mosque takes its name from him (şehzade means prince). The architect was Mimar Sinan. The building is regarded as having marked a new direction in Ottoman architecture.

From Wikipedia

The Şehzade Mosque (Turkish: Şehzade Camii, lit. 'Prince's Mosque') is a 16th-century Ottoman imperial mosque located in the district of Fatih, on the third hill of Istanbul, Turkey. It was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent as a memorial to his son Şehzade Mehmed who died in 1543. The mosque was one of the earliest and most important works of architect Mimar Sinan and is one of the signature works of Classical Ottoman architecture.
